4 Insights from Advancing Construction Technology 2025: Smarter Tools, Stronger Teams

4 Insights from Advancing Construction Technology 2025: Smarter Tools, Stronger Teams

Last week, the MobiClocks team hit the road and joined hundreds of construction leaders at the Advancing Construction Technology Conference in Chicago, IL. This conference is a premier event focused on technology and how it can transform productivity, efficiency, and drive profitability in construction projects. The event brings together hundreds of industry experts that share their own technology and digital transformation case studies, diving deep into how contractors can adopt digital workflows and foster a culture of innovation.

Here are four topics that stood out most to the Mobi-Team this year:

1. Technology Alone Isn’t Enough
We know that tools like BIM, VDC, and integrated project platforms are widely adopted. You probably use them at your company! But successful implementation depends on team buy-in and training. Companies that pair technology with cultural readiness see the most impact on project delivery and profitability. In fact, David Stone from DPR Construction shared great advice: Choose an experienced and influential leader to spearhead the deployment. This person can leverage their credibility, authority, and ability to drive alignment to make the project roll out and change management successful.

2. Workforce Management Drives Profitability
A recurring theme at the event was how mismanaged labor costs can silently erode project margins. From labor utilization to project progress tracking, companies leveraging real-time information are reducing costly errors and improving efficiency across the board. Modern solutions (hint: like MobiClocks) which combine facial recognition and mobile access, help organizations track time accurately, reduce payroll errors, and make better labor allocation decisions.

3. Tools Must Demonstrate Clear Value at Every Level
Any tech or tool that is rolled out to the field must actually be easy to use. Whether your goal is to improve quality, safety, or efficiency, the technology will not be successfully adopted if it’s hard for your field teams to use. This also means investing in change management processes so the teams understand the “so what” behind why you’re rolling out new tech. The more you let them in on the goal or drivers behind your new systems the more likely they are to use them.

4. Innovation = Competitive Advantage
Companies that are willing to experiment with new technologies and workflows are seeing measurable gains in productivity, efficiency, and worker satisfaction. ACT highlighted that innovation isn’t just about tech. Actually, it’s more about the people and the processes that surround the tech that will take you from testing and innovating with a small control or pilot group to a true competitive advantage.

This was our first time exhibiting at Advancing Construction Technology and we had a fantastic time. It was great to see so many familiar faces and the conference reinforced that smart workforce management is a critical piece of the technology puzzle. We’re already looking forward to next year!
